USTA Southern California provides the competitive junior player with an exciting pathway that includes sectional, regional, and national tournaments. Track your ranking among peers in Southern California and across the nation, and experience unique competitions like the Bryan Bros Doubles Race and the prestigious Final 8 Junior Masters Championship.

Competitive Pathway

Once a child has advanced from PlayTracker or turned 11 years old, he/she may compete in USTA SoCal junior tournaments. Junior tournaments are grouped into seven levels of play, providing competitive opportunities for young champions of all ages and skill levels.

LEVEL 7 INTERMEDIATE / LOCAL TOURNAMENTS
(formerly SoCal L5) The next step in improving and challenging your game

LEVEL 6 INTERMEDIATE
(formerly SoCal L4) Advance further and raise your level of competition

LEVEL 5 HIGH INTERMEDIATE
(formerly SoCal L3) Select events like Friendship Cup and The Ojai

LEVEL 4 OPEN / LEVEL 4 CLOSED ADVANCED
(formerly SoCal L2) High level section events including Final 8 qualifiers; *L4 Open allows out of Section players

LEVEL 3 ADVANCED
(formerly SoCal L1) Section/ National level events include the Junior Sectionals, Henry Talbert, USTA National L3s, and all ITF Junior Grade 4 & 5 tournaments located in the US

LEVEL 2 ADVANCED
National level events include USTA National Level 2s, Zone Team Championships, Eddie Herr (B/G 12-16), and the Junior Orange Bowl (B/G 12-14)

LEVEL 1 ADVANCED
Highest National level events include IOSC, The National Championships, Easter Bowl, Eddie Herr ITF (BG18), and Orange Bowl (BG16-18)

Regional & National

Junior players value the experience of representing and competing as a travel team opposite top players from other USTA Sections. Players receive valuable on-court coaching and will experience the camaraderie of a competitive team atmosphere. From the legendary Maze Cup to Intersectional, Zonal, and National team tournaments, travel with #TeamSoCal and show the nation what Southern California tennis is all about!

Please note that the Regional Grand Prix Series has been canceled in 2021.
